2013 Sankofa Award Honoree
Gwendolyn Strain, Project FIN (Families In Need) / Rose Home, San Francisco Police Department, Lion Veterans Charities, Inc and San Francisco Bike Coalition partnered in a joint effort and provided 111 bikes and helmets to disadvantaged veterans for Christmas.  Her intent was to meet the need of countless veterans for transportation and to increase their ability to look for work, strengthen and improve their health conditions through exercise She hopes to empower volunteers to serve our communities, to meet the humanitarian needs of our veterans, to encourage peace and promote understanding of our homeless veterans throughout the bay-area.  During the winter Gwen provides to our homeless and homeless Veterans food, warm clothing and hot soup through her Warm Hands project. Gwen is one of the 2013 Sankofa Award Honorees
