Razak, Arisika

Arisika Razak, RN, NM, MPH is the former Chair of the Women’s Spirituality Program at CIIS. Her teachings incorporate diverse spiritual traditions, women’s health and healing, multicultural feminisms, and contemporary diversity theory. Arisika has led spiritual and healing workshops and ritual celebrations for women for over three decades, as well
as embodied spiritual workshops for women and men. She performs nationally and internationally, celebrating the changing body of woman, and our human struggles for liberation. A core member of the Purple Moon Dance Project whose work explores the experiences of women of color and lesbians, she contributes regularly to books and journals. Her film credits include Fire Eyes, the first full length feature film by an African woman on female genital cutting; Who Lives Who Dies a PBS special on health care services to underserved populations, and the upcoming documentary, Alice Walker: Beauty in Truth.
