Ms. Latonia Dixon is 2nd Vice Commander of Bob Basker Post 315 of the American Legion, a multi-media artist, poet, teacher, disabled army veteran and Event Director of Sankofa Sunday. She is devoted to the sacred and beauty in art, and female creative power and has performed poetry at the Missions Cultural Center for Women’s History, the Brava Theater in the event “Artists Against Rape,” the Vagina Monologues at California Institute of Integral Studies, and participated as one of the panelist at U.C. Berkeley on the topic of the invisible war in the panelist at U.C. Berkeley on the topic of the invisible war in the military. In addition, she taught in the Humanities Department at Napa Valley College and lectured on African American Women’s Health. Her latest creation last year was Take Back the Night, Healing Arts Festival October 13, 2012 at the Veterans Building in San Francisco, CA.
